PowerSkate
Overview
The West Carleton Skating Club offers the PowerSkate Program:
- PowerSkate Minimum skating level equivalent to CanSkate Stage 4
PowerSkate is an instructional program that teaches skating skills and techniques to hockey and ringette players in a format that applies to the game situations. This program is geared to skaters who who already have basic forward and backward skating skills. They should be able to skate the length of the rink using alternate strides and be able to stop on command without use of the boards. This program focuses on balance, control and agility skills including components of power and speed. Skating skills, techniques and performance drills are taught in a progressive format by Skate Canada coaches certified through the NCCP to enhance the skating ability required in game situations.

The following equipment is required:
- CSA approved helmet
- Hockey stick
- Gloves
- Hockey Skates
Full Equipment is Optional however strongly recommended for safety reasons.
